The logistics industry in Europe is threatened with the loss of more than 100,000 truck drivers in international goods traffic as a result of the war in Ukraine. The already existing shortage of drivers in Germany will become even worse when the Ukrainian long-distance drivers who are on the road for German retail chains and manufacturers receive their draft orders.
How the shortage will affect the supply situation and the economy cannot be estimated at this point in time. Already, there is a shortage of up to 80,000 drivers in this country.
Rising oil and diesel prices are also skyrocketing at the moment. For companies in the transport industry, this is associated with high costs that are driving them into existential difficulties. There is a threat of bankruptcies in the German transport logistics industry.
The supply chains are extremely tense and lead to worldwide delivery bottlenecks, as well as the exploding costs in the logistics industry.
